Job Description:

Position Overview

This full-time position will have responsibilities within the Edge Space Systems organization specifically related to thermal engineering support for aerospace applications. Includes all aspects of thermal engineering from concept design and in-depth analysis, integration and testing, to flight support, under the guidance of senior technical staff.

Edge is interested in hiring a range of experienced thermal engineers, from >3 to 20 years. Specific NASA projects include WFIRST, LCRD, Europa, PACE/OCI.


Job Functions

  • Thermal design and analysis of aerospace applications, as assigned.
  • Thermal engineering support on proposals, as assigned.
  • Thermal engineering support in technical reviews, as assigned.
  • Engineering support for thermal vacuum test planning, analyses, set-up and testing including shift support.
  • Thermal control hardware integration support, as assigned.
  • Launch and post-launch thermal engineering support, as assigned.
  • Utilize NASA Goddard GEVS and Gold Rules (or similar) as required.
  • May include travel, typically less than 20%.


Requirements

  • B.S. in mechanical or aerospace engineering from an accredited institution; M.S. in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent experience is recommended.
  • Minimum of 3 years thermal engineering experience with space flight design and analysis.
  • Experience must include thermal design and analysis at the spacecraft and instrument levels.
  • Experience modeling in Thermal Desktop and SINDA or similar thermal software.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Flexibility in work schedule, duties, and work location is required. May require locating at customer sites such as NASA, NRL, etc., which will require background check.
  • Ability to travel: local, domestic and international.
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
